The last thing Andrea Fernandez recalls before being drugged is holding her newborn baby on a Bogota city bus.
Police found her three days later, wandering topless along a busy highway. Her face was badly beaten and her son was gone.
Andrea was given Scopolamine, A.K.A. “The Devil’s Breath” which has been dubbed “The World’s Most Dangerous Drug” by Vice. Made from the borrachero tree, that are common in Columbia, it is colourless, odourless and tasteless.

Some victims have been so submissive that they helped thieves rob their homes, empty their bank accounts and even talked into giving up an organ. Women have been drugged repeatedly over days and gang-raped or rented out as prostitutes.
In the case of Andrea, the mother of three was rendered submissive enough to surrender her youngest child.
Follow Vice’s Ryan Duffy to Columbia where finds out more about the cynical drug.
