A Jamaican man was questioned and released by US police after he posted an Instagram photo of himself holding a high powered rifle and named a popular music festival in the caption.
He has been identified as Rayne Russell, a tennis coach based in St Andrew.
Russell was taken into custody Sunday by Miami police after a photo surfaced on Instagram showing him wearing a dark gray T-shirt, jean shorts and a baseball cap while holding the firearm. On a table next to him was a handgun with a silencer.
The photo was captioned “Ready for the weekend” and included a hashtag making reference to the popular Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
The instagram account linked to the subject identified him as Rayne Russell, and the photo was tagged in Fort Lauderdale.
Police tracked down Russell, questioned him and determined that he was not a threat. He was reportedly posing with legal guns belonging to relatives.
“He did something thinking it was funny, and obviously we didn’t find it funny at all,” a Miami police officer was quoted as saying by 7News.
The incident occurred a day after hundreds of thousands of Americans attended “March for Our Lives” rallies, calling on lawmakers to enact legislation to help stop school shootings and reduce gun violence.
