After 22 Years Of Blissful Matrimony, Couple With Down Syndrome Prove Odds Are In Their Favor

From the first day she met him, Maryanne’s face would light up whenever she spoke of Tommy Pilling.

They looked forward to spending their time together doing the little things like going for walks and having dinner at each other’s family’s houses.

After 18 months of a whirlwind courtship, Tommy knew he wanted to be together forever. So he approached Maryanne’s mother to ask permission to marry her daughter. He brought along a toy ring from a gumball machine.

Immediately, Linda told Tommy yes – but on one condition: that she take him to buy her daughter a formal engagement ring.

As the two lovebirds planned their dream wedding, their families were surprised by some folks’ negative reactions.

Although the couple both have Down syndrome, it was never an issue if they should get married or not.

Some critics of their union believed the misconception that persons with the condition are incapable of having a relationship. But that couldn’t be further from the truth.

In fact, Maryanne’s sister Lindi Newman said Tommy, 59, and Maryanne, 45, inspire others with their beautiful marriage everywhere they go.

Twenty-two years after marrying in 1995, they are proving all of their doubters wrong. Instead, they’ve become role models for all who aspire to have strong marriages with their soul mates.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Thank you very much for all the love and Support .❤️
